I created this website to help fellow stroke survivors (SS) and show there is life and living after such a catastrophic event. Friends, family, outpatient care, and support groups will be there to keep you active and living life.
My name is Vic Martinez, and I have been living with stroke since 2012. I am living
proof there is quality of life after a stroke, though, maybe not like I expected.
I’m sharing my story so you can find your way to a fuller life. If you've ever watched a sporting event or seen a stroke survivor move around, you know both can be very dramatic.
Is he going to make it?
In one way or another, every act we perform as stroke survivors is a sporting challenge, from balance to coordination, strength to stamina. I believe all activities revolve around sport, even down to the encouraging spectators.
In my case, the "I can do it!" attitude has become more dominant as I race through recovery. I recognize that I will never get back to who I once was, but that a different me will appear . . . has appeared.
This website has helpful tips and information. Exercises: Physical, mental, and spiritual are so important. The Services and Product Reviews will help you make important decisions, and Caregivers Corner will discuss the role of spouses, relatives, or professionals.
Also, my story is in the blog. Of the more than 795,000 people who suffer a stroke yearly, 145,000 do not survive (cdc). Also, know you're not alone in this battle.
Stroke survivors can count on beneficial information about all kinds of therapies, as well as product reviews. I hope you find the site useful. --Vic
